The film tells about the life of Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) is filled with personal problems before he won fame as a world-class professional boxer. Mickey feels that he always was under the shadow of Dick Eklund (Christian Bale), his stepsister, who is a former boxer despite widespread popular drugs entangled. Micky felt even when Dick was like at this time was struggling with drugs, Dicky always managed to be a major concern of his mother, Alice (Melissa Leo). Although when starting a career bertinjunya Alice and Dick is the manager and coach, but Mickey still feel the difference attention to it, especially after he suffered a career losing streak in bertinjunya.
